Our Gender Based Violence (GBV) response programmes demonstrates BWPDI understanding of the linkages and complexities involved in abuse of women. A multi- sectoral approach is used to address gender based violence through partnering with organisations working with women, men, children and continuous engagement with duty bearers such as police and other government departments. For women survivors of GBV, support groups are conducted by experienced Social Workers. There are group sessions held monthly for young women where they discuss issues affecting them.
Our work is underpinned by a human rights framework. We believe all people who access GBV services from BWPDI have to be empowered to exercise their rights. Emphasis is placed on educating and raising awareness on rights of women and supporting them to recover from Trauma and related effects of violence.
