Food Security & Livelihood Outreach

Food and decent incomes is a basic human right. Everybody deserves to have enough food and income to live a full and healthy life with dignity. However, in South Sudan this basic human right has not been realized by many households yet South Sudan has all the necessary resources to avert hunger. Food shortage and insecurity is chronic in this country partly because of a high dependency on humanitarian food inspite of numerous natural resources and the country’s agricultural base. BWPDI therefore believes that hunger in South Sudan is largely man-made and can be prevented and completely eradicated if the agricultural potential of the Country is tapped into.

  • Availing and training farmers with agricultural tools (tractors and ox plough, hoes etc) to enable transition from subsistence to large scale farming.
  • Provision of emergency agricultural inputs to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups such as women.
  • Training of women and youths in business skills, marketing skills, vegetables and crop production.
